Welcome to Term 4, when lighter mornings and evenings will soon be arriving and we will start to see the joys of Spring.

Our big question this term is: What makes our environment special? 

Year 1 question: Where do animals live?

English 

This term in Year 1, we will be developing our writing skills through two exciting topics! First, we will write a recount about our trip to the woods, where we will use time words and descriptive language to share our adventure. Then, we will learn how to write clear and simple instructions as we create delicious fruit kebabs. Through these activities, children will practise sequencing events, using key vocabulary, and writing with purpose. We can’t wait to see their fantastic work!

     

Maths 

This term, we will continue to build our understanding of place value, exploring numbers from 0 to 50. We will also be learning about measurement, including volume, mass, length, and height. Through practical activities and hands-on learning, children will develop their skills in comparing, ordering, and using the correct mathematical language. These lessons will help to deepen their understanding of number relationships and real-world measurement concepts in a fun and engaging way!

      

Topic 

This term in Year 1, our learning will be filled with exciting new topics! In Science, we will be exploring Animals Including Humans, where children will learn about different animal groups, body parts, and what humans and animals need to stay healthy. In Geography, we will be looking at the weather, observing seasonal changes and learning how the weather affects our daily lives. For Design & Technology, we will be getting hands-on as we design and make our own tasty and healthy fruit kebabs. It’s going to be a fantastic term of discovery and creativity!

Forest School will continue to be Wednesday mornings and PE Wednesday afternoons. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring PE kits to School to change in to.
